New Year Winter Session! New Classes & Events, Holiday Season Schedule & Specials

Just because you can't do something now doesn't mean you won't be able to in the future. Never give up. When I am having a bad day, this video puts things into perspective for me. Some people can't move, or if they do they are in pain. It is hard for them to do the things that some of us do without any thought. There is no doubt that yoga can bring ease and peace to the body & mind. With consistency, it works its magic.

What prevents you from trying yoga?
Having enough time is one thing that I know is tough. That is why our studio does whatever it can to support you to help you get to your mat. There are not very many rural yoga studios to start with and also ones that run year round. So time is saved by having a studio in your neighbourhood. Less driving. Less cost. Less time. We also do our best to run many different events and classes at one convenient location. Also, we are super fortunate to have such a trusting community. You are always welcome to leave your yoga gear at the studio so you don't have to haul it around.

Sometimes it is the fear of trying something new that makes it hard to get to yoga or to try it out. You may have a picture in your mind already or maybe you have tried it but you had a negative experience. To help support you, we are running a Yoga for Beginners class in the new year. And that is why we run a moksha yoga class which is a beginner series. I may add more challenge to this class but those challenges are always just an option! Variety is key to challenge the body yet it is important to build a strong foundation first. A set sequence can help you do that. The more consistent you are and the more you practice, the body will start to create muscle memory...and it will get stronger and more flexible. And what is amazing is that your mind may have already thought that you could not do a pose and then all of a sudden, your body does it, and the surprised mind follows suit :)

The studio team is here to support you...
We continue to grow this community with those who have invested so much time and effort into their personal growth and education. We have Gwen who has taken her Meditation Teacher Training and is teaching meditation at the studio.  We have Jasmin who has completed her 200Hr Yoga Teacher Training along with already having her fitness certifications. We have Janine who is teaching Kids Yoga that includes not only yoga but also music which Janine has so much knowledge in, having been a music teacher for many years. We have Margot who teaches the art classes and workshops at the studio. She has been an artist for many years and is a talented one at that! We have Tessa who is our Massage Therapist and is such a lovely nurturing energy. And all of these ladies have such big hearts and care deeply. When you walk into the studio, I hope it feels like a big hug because all of us at the studio are here to support you in any way we can. Also, I am forever thankful for those teachers who support the students and me. We are so fortunate to have them. In other situations, a studio would simply be closed down but because of lovely friends and the sweet students, we are able to keep it going. Thank you to Carmon, Lelana, Deanna, Heidi, Stephanie, Shauna, Yvonne and Jody. I am so fortunate :) And deep gratitude to a special lady, my mom, who is home for me and so many others and has one of the most beautiful hearts I have known in my lifetime.

And during tough economic times, it is the students who support the studio. It is YOU who keep it going.

The studio also provides a variety of classes. One day you may need more activity and another you may want to calm your nervous system down and de-stress. Or you may have an injury or have had a knee or hip replacement. That is why we provide variations for those who need it to make yoga as accessible for you as possible.

Why practice yoga?
When I practice yoga, I practice each pose to use it as movement medicine. To use it to support my entire body. My kidneys. My heart. My thyroid. My spine. How great is that? We use poses to assist in flexibility or strength but when in daily life, when do we ever say to ourselves I think my kidneys need some care or I need to support my heart muscle more. With yoga, you are able to support your vital organs, joints and glands too. You are able to take reset moments to clear the body of stress and reset it. Stress is a silent killer and having experienced burnout and adrenal fatigue, it takes so long to recover. It is so much easier to be preventative than to have an issue to arise and then have to take months or years to get back to feeling somewhat normal again.

Every practice you have will be different because your body is different every single time. The stresses you walk in with are different every single day. So my hope is that your yoga practice gives you time to have clear and honest communication with your body and mind. Some days, I can not believe how tired my body is, and I needed the stillness or perhaps the movement to help me see that.

What is your internal dialogue with yourself? Are you kind to yourself or do you criticize yourself? If you fall out of a balancing pose, do you simply say "interesting" with no judgment and get back into the pose or do you judge yourself? Are you hard on yourself? These moments in practice give us an opportunity to be kind to ourselves, to change our perspective. Those moments on the mat give you a chance to see how you may treat yourself off your mat, in your life.

Be kind to yourself. You already are love, loving and loveable. That is your true essence.
You are supported. You are loved. I hope you have a beautiful and peaceful holiday season.
Namaste and thank you for sharing your sparkle with me,
Janelle

Restorative Yoga for Anxiety & Stress Relief
Fridays at 5:15pm
The intention of this class is to provide an open and safe space for students to let go of tension and cultivate peace and balance. Poses will be held for longer periods of time to allow the nervous system to thoroughly unwind. There will be use of essential oils that are specifically chosen for their calming, grounding & stress-relieving properties. The human body was not designed to handle being in a state of fight or flight constantly. In order to help the body and mind optimally deal with the challenges of daily life, it is crucial that we cultivate stillness and silence to switch into the parasympathetic nervous system which can give your body time to rest and your mind the space to unwind and let go.
Cost: $135 or $130 before December 23.
