New Classes

Introduction to Guided Meditation with Gwen

Is your mind busy? Can't quiet it down?  I hear people say they can't meditate because their minds are too busy. But that is WHY meditation is so important! In meditation, the intention is not to "empty the mind". It is about observing the mind & using one of your most powerful tools, your breath, to create moments of stillness in your mind, allowing the body to experience true rest and healing.

This class will cover why meditation is such a crucial part of your holistic health regime. There will be a short introduction each week covering different themes (eg. understanding what is happening to your brain when you meditate, different techniques to meditate, why & how it reduces stress & anxiety in your body)

"Sunflowers"

Has it been awhile since you have practiced yoga? Or are you new to yoga and have already created a picture in your mind of what it is all about? Maybe you have had one experience that has prevented you from trying it again?

Arriving back on your mat or trying something new can be hard to do. Sometimes when I struggle to get to my mat, I remember how I feel after I practice. And I know my body will remember and make its way back faster than my mind will give it credit for. I am reminded of the different vibration or energy I feel from my movement & breath. And the kindness I feel from being with a supportive & loving group of people.

Do you use your practice as a workout?
Do you use it as a tool to decrease depressive symptoms or to calm anxiety?

It is so important to take the journey on your mat with yourself as it gives your body the opportunity to communicate what it needs, day by day, moment to moment, breath by breath. Yes, yoga is so beneficial for our muscles & joints. But it also gives us the opportunity to care for our vital organs. Our heart, our lungs, our liver. And to ever so gently hear what care they may be calling for. Only until I was brought to my knees did I start to listen. And coming back from that has been a very long journey.
Yoga has been movement medicine for me.
Yoga can be a great "workout" but sometimes it gets you to "work in", which is where deeper healing can occur. How we think can contaminate or contribute to the health of our body.
Our internal dialogue of how we treat ourselves on the mat transfers off the mat into our "life practice." Are we kind or do we criticize? Can we simply observe rather than judge ourselves? And are our beliefs our own or have they been given to us by someone else?
You already are love and sometimes all we need is a simple reminder to be kind to ourselves. To be gentle. Thank you to all of you who share your sparkle, your love & your kind energy with me.

Meet you on the mat!
From my heart to your heart...
Namaste,
Janelle
