Easter Weekend Schedule, Beginner Yoga, Yin Yoga

Easter Weekend Schedule- All classes are running!

  • Friday @ 9:30am- Moksha Yoga 75min
  • Friday @ 5:15pm- Restorative Yoga 60min
  • Saturday @10am- Moksha Yoga 75min

I hope you have a beautiful long weekend!

New Classes may be added to our summer session (May/June) based on your feedback!

Please email me back to let me know if you can come and what day/time suits you best:

Yin Yoga (90min)
Sundays @ 2, 4 or 6pm or
Mondays @ 9:30am or
Thursdays @ 9:30am

Yin Yoga focuses on getting into connective tissue where a lot of tension is held. It targets areas of the lower spine, hips & pelvis as well as tight shoulders and neck. Not only is it our day to day activities that cause tension in the body (sitting at a desk for long periods, driving, high stress environments) but as we age, we begin to lose flexibility as well. So much of this can be prevented by keeping the body moving and having an exercise regime where activity is balanced by rejuvenation.

Beginner Yoga (60min)
Mondays @ 7:15pm
Saturdays @ 8 am or 12pm

A slower paced workshop style class where you will learn safe alignment of each posture. Your structure (how you are build) governs your function (how you move) so in this class you will learn modifications to customize your practice to suit your body. There will be a different theme/focus every week.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Spring Session: Schedule & Special Events

What is the purpose of your yoga practice? To increase overall well-being? To build strength or improve flexibility and mobility? To connect with others? Or perhaps your mat space is a place where you can just totally relax. We live in a world of being so busy that sometimes our body never gets the chance to rejuvenate. Yoga gives us the opportunity to drop down, relax and support the human "being" part of us. It can offer us the chance to practice radical kindness & acceptance towards ourselves.

Mandy Trapp is an overnight success 15 years in the making. Her professional journey began with a passion for sport and wellness as she became a well recognized personal trainer, in demand by professional athletes and executives alike. Mandy's own development expanded rapidly as she desired to help her clients experience a more holistic approach to wellness. This led to her 10 year education process through the Chopra Centre University, culminating with their top certification of Vedic Master.

Mandy continued to integrate her new skills, teaching yoga and meditation to her existing clients and expanding her community. To service her rapidly expanding client base, in 2007 Mandy opened her first studio, leading to the formation of Samadhi Meditation in 2013. "The demand from the community for accessible meditation tools and training was so overwhelmingly huge, that I had no choice but to focus all of my attention on the integration of meditation into the mainstream." The Samadhi teacher training allows an accessible model for others to find the instructor inside and bring the gift of meditation to their circle of influence.

Currently her projects include; programming for the Stollery Children's Hospital and Integrative Health Institute within the University of Alberta, active involvement in both the local public and catholic school systems, entrepreneur and professional organizations such as EO and YPO, and several corporate and private coaching clients. As well, Mandy has been a keynote speaker at the Bloom 2.0 conference and many other events, bringing her message and gift of meditation into the mainstream.

In the spring of 2012, Mandy founded the "India/Nepal Yoga Project" which is a grassroots organization dedicated to the health and empowerment of victims of human trafficking in India, Nepal and around the world. This organization provides training and education in yoga and meditation as a means to heal at the deepest level. As well as physical, mental and emotional healing, the project has become a catalyst for the creation of  small, sustainable businesses which in turn supplies these individuals with long-lasting income and strategies for self-sufficiency. And the future looks just as busy and inspiring as the last 15 years! In August of 2015, Mandy will move with her husband and three children to spend the year in Bali, Indonesia. As the children attend "Greenschool", she and her husband will continue to spread Samadhi Meditation to that area of the world and begin work on the Bali Yoga Project, collaborating with local organizations activated in the change for sex trafficking and sex tourism in their areas.

A new year journey of trans·for·ma·tion

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes."

60 Day Holistic Health Transformation Challenge

By definition, transformation means a dramatic change in form or appearance...but there is so much more than just a shift in physical appearance. There is change in energy, vitality and the vibration of how you feel. And most importantly, there is transformation of our internal dialogue. How can we be kind to ourselves instead of criticize?

Transforming from a holistic perspective addresses all aspects of lifestyle. To create optimal health there are different areas that can help you get there faster. Healthy eating, eliminating chemicals & toxins, exercising, stress management & if needed, supplementation.

And the more you practice yoga, the more benefits you will see and sooner. Not only do postures build strength but they can also help the health of your organs, joints, glands and increase mobility & movement of the entire body. And from the emotional side, breathing and moving your body can help alleviate stress & tension and offer some peace and quiet for your body & mind, giving back to the human "being" part of us.

Your mat is your safe place to be. We have a studio that is a sanctuary of support and as you practice more, you will be able to see this through your mat buddies next to you, the hugs, the connection and the love that lifts us as individuals and as an entire community.

This challenge includes:

  • Desire Mapping Workshop discounted pricing (more details to come!)

About Tessa...

I have completed the first year of massage therapy & 1000 hours at the Alberta Institute of Massage located in Red Deer, Alberta. I am currently studying to complete the second year and the 2200 hours required for massage therapy. I have also been certified in Hot Stone Massage Therapy. I realized quite early that I loved to help people feel better and assist in easing their pain. I found it fascinating to learn about the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Our bodies are so amazing and intricately designed. It didn't take me long to see I have found my calling. It is very rewarding to be able to connect with so many different people in a trusting and open-minded atmosphere. I am very excited about the path my life will take, the skills I will learn along the way and the people I will meet being a part of the natural health industry.

Reiki Treatments with Heather Lapp

Appointments available:

  • Mondays & Tuesdays 11am, 1pm
  • Pricing: $65
  • Please email me to book an appointment! :)

Heather shares a calm and healing energy. She has been offering Reiki for many years. She provides a safe andbeautiful sanctuary for people to relax and supports the body to do what it knows best, and that is to heal itself.

She has been a Level 2 Reiki Practitioner since 2010. She received both Reiki Levels 1&2 from Reiki Master, Denise Kinch (USA).

For the Reiki Practitioner, it is an opportunity to become  a conduit; a hollow bone through which healing energy of a divine nature can travel. Energetically, our power centers, or Chakras can become partially blocked, and even closed, causing us to eventually experience physical disease.

Combined with the power of ancient healing symbols, Reiki is a powerful healing tool for clearing these blockages, and delivering healing energy where it is most needed.

We are all capable of miracles when we show up for ourselves with an open heart, and a desire to come together in healing.

Treatments with Bonnie Gardiner

Reflexology, Raindrop Therapy, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Bowen Therapy

Reflexology is a therapeutic method of relieving pain by stimulating predefined pressure points in the feet. Reflexology promotes healing by stimulating the nerves in the body and encouraging the flow of blood. This can be an effective way for promoting good health and preventing illness.

  • Sessions are 1 hour $70

Raindrop Therapy was designed and introduced in the early 70's by Dr Gary Young and a Lakota medicine man. Its first uses were to correct Scoliosis, a curved spine. It is a spinal alignment as well as a detoxification. RDT is a method of using vita flex, reflexology and massage techniques. Essential oils are applied onto the spine to bring structural and electrical alignment. It helps align the energy centers of the body and release them if blocked without using hard pressure.

  • Sessions are 1 hour $85

Cranio Sacral Therapy is a gentle hands on approach that releases tensions deep in the body. It can help to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole body health and performance. It was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic physician, John E Upledger, after years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as a professor of Biomechanics.

Using a soft touch, which is generally no greater than 5 grams, practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissue that surround the central nervous system. CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease and its effective for a wide range of medical issues.

  • Sessions are 1 hour $70

Bowen Technique (also known as Bowtech- the Original Bowen Technique) is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy that was developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. Sometimes called the homeopathy of bodywork, it utilizes subtle inputs to the body (known as moves), stimulating the body to heal itself, often profoundly.

Bowen offers tremendous benefit to clients and can provide relief for may types of injuries and other health problems, both acute and chronic. It does so holistically, via the body's innate healing mechanisms. The moves deliver signals to the nervous system at specific locations (on muscles, tendons ligaments or nerves), and the body responds in its own time, within its vital capacity. Bowen is appropriate for all ages in all degrees of health. Bowen is helpful in many health situations including sciatica, headaches, frozen shoulder, TMJ and other neck & back issues.

  • Sessions are 45min to 1 hour $70

About Bonnie:

I have been using and learning different healing modalities for the the past 11 years. Raindrop Therapy is how I began my journey. Recieving a treatment showed me the power of healing with essential oils. I was trained in Calgary with a company called Healing Hands. After a year of practicing, I took the training  for Reflexology through the Touchpoint Institute on Vancouver Island. Learning Bowen Therapy was a process that took 2 years as there are 7 modules to complete before becoming certified. I have taken my Level 1 Cranio Sacral with Upledger Institue in California and am looking forward to taking Level 2. All of these modalities work on everyone in different ways. It's a wonderful thing when we can help our bodies heal naturally!

Yin Yoga Class Description:

Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.

Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.

Nikki Henriksen has over a 1000 hours of yoga training. She has also studied Holistic Nutrition and Thai massage. She is currently enrolled at MHViscars in their Registered Massage Therapy Program. Over the last 11 years Nikki has been an active part of the Edmonton yoga community teaching at a variety of yoga studios.

Elenna is a long time yogini, with yoga training from India as well as Canada and the US. She is a certified Iridologist trained in nutrition, herbology, homeopathy and natural health. She brings much love to her students at every studio, with a wealth of knowledge of the whole body and being.

What is Hot Stone Massage?

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones. They are often basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well. The heat is both deeply relaxing and helps tight muscles release.

At the start of a hot stone therapy, smooth water-heated basalt stones are carefully applied to key points on the body. This direct heat relaxes the muscles, which means that the massage itself is more effective and intense than it would be otherwise. The size of the stones varies, according to which part of the body they're being used on. Oil is smoothed gently onto the body, and each stone in turn can be worked along by the therapist's hands.

Benefits of Hot Stone Massage

  • Promotes deep muscle and tissue relaxation
  • Alleviates stress
  • Releases toxins
  • Relieves pain
  • Improves circulation
  • Calms the psyche

Health Conditions Treated with Hot Stone Massage

  • Muscular aches and pains
  • Back Pain
  • MS
  • Arthritis
  • Fibromylagia
  • Stress, Anxiety
  • Circulatory problems
  • Insomnia
  • Depression

Restorative Yoga is a practice directed toward students who are injured, stressed or dealing with chronic health conditions. It is a very gentle practice to help with regaining mobility and range of motion that our bodies are naturally meant to have. The class involves a lot of props: blankets, blocks, straps, bolsters, etc. to totally support the body, allowing for deep relaxation and release. Poses can benefit specific health challenges as well.

When: Friday November 7-Friday December 20 (last class before Christmas). Cost: $96
Please confirm your attendance with me.

I loved learning from Judith Lasater and how many gems she shared! Her words below ring really true: "We can manipulate our nervous system with our poses...so be aware of the attitude with which you experience a pose (which is in turn, is reflected in your form of the pose). What residual effect do you wish to leave in your body? We aren't looking for perfection. We are looking for harmony."

Cardio Kickboxing

Just in time for all those parties during the holiday season!
