Yoga for Stress Relief

Thursdays at 10am

Stress has a way of sneaking up on us and can be detrimental when the body is in a constant state of being stressed/stimulated. This class will consist of therapy ball exercises in addition to postures specific to helping the body relax and unwind. Postures that are held longer and in some cases, where you are fully supported by props, can help decrease tension and leave you with a residual effect of calming and quieting your body and mind.

This day retreat will consist of a therapeutic yoga class with therapy balls & restorative poses. Next, we will have some fun creating our own products to help with relaxation & stress relief. And finally we will be guided through an art class creating a mandala and learning about why we choose the colors we do!
For those of you coming from the city, if you wish to stay overnight, please let me know.

Yoga for Stress Relief

Yoga for Hockey Players- 8 weeks: January 7- February 25

Thursdays at 12pm
Cost: $110
This class will consist of poses that are sport-specific for hockey. Poses will help with increasing flexibility and range of motion to help avoid injury. In sports where one side is more dominant, more muscle development on one side can cause an imbalance so yoga can help to bring equilibrium back into shoulders, spine & hips. There will be a focus on core strength as well to help with protecting your spine & increasing the power behind shooting. For the goalies out there, more attention will be given to increasing flexibility of the hip flexors, hamstrings & groin muscles.

The Monday night class will continue and we are also adding more for your cross-training needs! Adding weight training to your exercise regime can help to build strength, build bone density & protect you from injury.

Create a strong foundation of proper alignment & build strength in your major muscle groups as you progress toward more multi-movement exercises.

Please pre register!

Starting next week, Thursday October 1, we will be running a moksha yoga 60min class from 8-9am on Thursdays in October. Come and warm up your fall mornings! The room will be slightly warmer (not hot). If you get your sweat on and have to head to work right after class, you are always welcome to use the showers available at the studio!

Cost: 5 Thursdays $74. Pre register you and a friend & it is $69 for each of you! This class is also accessible to all challengers and current pass holders.

This class has been requested so I'm hoping it works out for those who can't make the current classes. If there is enough interest we will continue to run it through November & December.

Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi

Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi is one of the easiest styles of Qigong to learn.  It emphasizes the synchronizing of 18 movements with the breath, in a gentle, beautiful, flowing exercise that is a joy to do and is deeply relaxing.

It is designed to improve general health and well-being of the practitioner.  The gentle rocking motions and stretching movements improve circulation, digestion and reduce mental stress and physical tension in the body.  It can be done at any age or fitness level.  

Any donations we receive from teaching go directly to helping children and seniors in Mexico through a group called The Friends of Bucerias.

Bob and Judy Cochrane have been studying energy work for many years, including yoga, Reiki, tai chi, qigong, meditation, shamanism, with teachers from Thailand, Mexico and Germany. Judy is also a trained coreconnexion dance and transformational arts facilitator and we have both done teacher training in Organic Stretch in Mexico where we spend our winters.

We practice this qigong almost everyday with my 89 year old father and any other family members who are around.  We love it!

This week!

This Saturday September 5 @ 10am, we have Yvonne from Edmonton Power Yoga  coming to teach a Powerflow class! Sometimes the word "power" can mean different things. In the case of Yvonne's class it is about living a powerful, "empowered" life on and off your mat!
Please come and experience her class and support our guest instructors!

  • Practice 3-7 times a week on an unlimited challenger pass with access to all classes (except for Yoga for Seniors)
  • There will be prizes at the end of the challenge for those with the highest attendance in both the 30 & 60 day time frame. Prizes are from The Village Creek Country Inn, The Clothing Store, The Village Auto Wash, Halfmoon Yoga Props, essential oils from the studio & more
  • Wrap-up Party with organic wine & tapas on Friday November 6 @ 6:45pm
  • All challengers receive a free small VOSS glass waterbottle for participating
  • We will have a challenger board at the studio so you can mark your progress

Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors: is there interest in this class starting in SEPTEMBER on a Thursday @ 11am?

Yin Yoga will be running on Sunday August 2, 9, 23 & 30 @ 12pm. 
There will be no class August 16.

Tuesday 6:15pm yoga has been changed to a Renew & Restore Yoga class and Daria and I will be covering this class for the remainder of the summer session.
